Blogs

Hey Guys(:
Or well… this blog should be towards Ms. Hunt d: BUT THIS IS
Week 13 Post: Blogs in the Future

DEFINITELY.
Personally, I enjoyed doing the blogs. Even though I (along with other classmates) don’t talk a lot in class or share my opinions, I think blogs are GREAT. Some people in our class barely put their say into the topic we’re discussing about, but when it comes to blogs, they might type up an entire paragraph. Through blogs I think I learned more about the people in our class than I probably would if we didn’t do them. It’s a great way to show what kind of person you are. Blogs also help share good or bad experiences. When people comment on them, you know that there’s somebody there that supports you. I don’t think there is anything you can do to fix blogs. The prompts that are given to us are ALWAYS something that we have to think about, and post. SO MS. HUNT… I think you should continue doing the blogs.
Agreed?

Bullying):

Hey Guys(:
Week 11 Post: Bullying & Cyberbullying

After reading the bullying article I realized that the issue of children and teens being bullied is a big deal. Kids are anywhere from being pushed into a corner to committing suicide for something that they can’t help, and it’s affecting many families, friends, and teachers. Bullying isn’t something that can’t be easily stopped. People tend to bully other people because something tragic happened to them and they can’t vent out their anger in any other way other than hurting other people to make themselves feel better. So it’s hard to stop it, but if everyone accepted each other’s values and respected one another, then bullying can be stopped. Teachers and counselors can help put an end to bullying by breaking up fights and help resolve problems between the bully and the person being bullied. Maybe the bully just needs some help to straighten out his or her priorities. If a child comes home and seems “out-of-it” then parents can help and talk to the child about what happened (i.e. if something happened at school, if something scares them, if they’re being harmed, etc.). Normally when a kid is being bullied (and if the bullying turns into a huge fight), the other kids stand there, stare, or scream “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” No. That’s not what students are supposed to do. Students can help by bringing a school officer, a teacher, or counselor so help the problem.

Cyberbullying is also a MAJOR problem. Just because you post a picture or say something about a person in a joke manner, the other person can take it offensively. And it’s always going to be there no matter what. Some people get so hurt that they have to move away from where they lived because the news spread all over that place. It’s embarrassing for the person. Yeah they probably did something that was funny, but keep it to yourself. It is not meant to be published for the entire world to see. Many people get bullied over Facebook, Twitter, Formspring, etc. Teens also commit suicide because of this, and is also affecting many people.

So respect each other, don’t do anything stupid, don’t be mean, and put an end to bullying.

Unforgotten Moments.

Hey Guys(:
Week 10 Post: What’s something I won’t forget about being this age?

This one is hard, but I guess overall my education and school experience. Coming to school is (although some people might hate it) actually fun for me because you get to see all your friends. Yeah going to classes, doing book work, reading books, taking tests, etc. is boring, BUT I always look forward to the time I have to talk to my friends. My friends and I just have WAY too many inside jokes that I could never forget. If I tell my parents they probably would forget about it in the future. In school you build new relationships and connections with people. You make new friends, learn more about them, and if you have classes with your friends then school isn’t that bad! In the future I would tell my kids about my school experiences, and tell them how that they should learn from mistakes, but it’s also good to have fun(: From being able to write my name, to reading the first chapter books, to making new friends and reaching for new horizons, I could never forget the times I have in school.

Anybody Up for Drawing Lessons?

Hey Guys(:
Week 9 Post: Special Skills

Well one thing that I get A LOT is that I’m a great artist. Well, I don’t want to sound too modest or too cocky,  but I don’t really try when I’m drawing. I draw anything that’s on my mind or anything that I feel. If I had the last 5 – 10 minutes of class to teach you guys anything, I would teach you how to draw anything that you guys feel like drawing. I also have an interest in painting. That’s why in a previous blog I wrote about having Leonardo da Vinci  helping me paint my room, and getting art lessons from Pablo Picasso.

gramma grmmr GRAMMAR.

Hey Guys(:
Week 8 Post: Grammar Tips!

Grammar is important you guys… let’s use it correctly alright? Hahaha(:

One of the most confusing grammar rules that gets to me EVERY TIME is when to use lay and lie. It confuses me so much. So anyone have any tips? :D

I have tips for you guys though(:

When to Use There, Their, and They’re
This is something I used to be confused with all the time. BUT, I learned an easy way to remember.

  • They’re – “They’re” is a contraction. It stands for “They are…” So whenever you need to write a sentence, replace “They’re” with “They are” and see if it makes sense. For example: They’re going to the park. Replace They’re with They are… They are going to the park. AND IT MAKES SENSE!
  • There – “There” refers to an object in a certain place. The box is over THERE. It’s referring to the box’s place. So whenever you need to use there just pay attention and make sure that you are talking about an object in a certain place. Don’t get it mixed up with “Their” because…
  • Their – “THEIR” REFERS TO PEOPLE. Their cat, Their house, Their uncle, etc. When you’re talking about a plural someone and a possession, you use their. For example: Their cat had to go to the vet because it felt sick.

When to Use Then or Than
Oh the confusion…

  • Then – “Then” is used when you’re telling something in chronological order. For example: “I went to Starbucks, drank my coffee, and THEN ate my scone.”
  • Than – “Than” is used when you’re telling comparing two (or more) objects. For example: “Most people prefer getting good grades THAN getting bad grades.” or “I would rather have chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles THAN chocolate ice cream without chocolate sprinkles.”

When to Use It’s or Its
Last One!

  • It’s – “It’s” is a contraction. It stands for “it is” or “it has.” When writing a sentence, to check if you need to use “It’s,” replace it with “It is/has…” If it makes sense, then you have a sentence to-go! For example: It’s/Its been so hot nowadays in Atlanta. Replace “It’s” with “It has.” It has been so hot nowadays in Atlanta. IT MAKES SENSE!
  • Its – “Its” is used when talking about possession. For example: The mother carried ITS kitten in ITS mouth.

Hope this helped! :)

“Let’s Paint” – Da Vinci

Hey Guys(:
Week 7 Post: Who Would I Choose?

If I could choose a personal assistant for a week, I would have to choose Leonardo Da Vinci. Ever since I was little and got my room painted I always dreamed of painting murals on my bedroom walls. I loved painting and drawing as a little girl, and I used to take art classes. I went into one of my art teacher’s studio rooms, and her walls were ALL painted by her, and she had painted murals on them. But she was a pro, and i was a beginner… SO, If I had Da Vinci helping me work, I would ask him to help me paint my walls full of colorful and beautiful murals. Although this project would be a pretty time-consuming project, and lots of work, I think it would be a great experience and I would fulfill my dream. :)

No. Alternate. Ending.

Hey Guys(:
Week 6 Post: The Alternate Ending.

NO. No alternate ending. I do not think there should be an alternate ending. Why? Then the drama of these to star-crossed lovers wouldn’t be a one-of-a-kind love stories. I’ve heard all the love stories and princess stories… they all end with the same five words. “They lived happily ever after.” That becomes boring to read (and watch in movies).
Although this play has a tragic ending (Romeo and Juliet ended up killing themselves), it shouldn’t be changed. It wouldn’t be Romeo and Juliet if you changed the ending of the drama. There is a lot of symbolism in the way Shakespeare wrote the ending to this play. Anything added, taken out, changed, would degrade his sense of literature (And anyways, as Ms. Hunt says in class, Shakespeare is probably rolling around in his grave). The ending can be seen as both good and bad because Romeo and Juliet killed themselves for someone they knew for three days(?), but then the Capulets and Montagues started out in a good foot again. Changing the story could make things worse. So I will not give this one-of-a-kind love story an alternate ending.

Magic Dust -> Magic Future?

Hey Guys(:

Week 5 Post: MAGIC DUST

I’ve always thought of what I would look like, what I would become, what path I followed, etc.  in the future. Magic dust that would make me go 10 years into the future? Yeah I could use some of that. I want to become a pediatrician, and it would be nice if I could just skip all of this work that I would have to do, and see how I am doing in the future. But then again, they say that the best part of  your educational (and in general too) life IS high school and college. If I breathed in some of this dust, where would my fun go? Freshman year, senior year, prom, field trips, homecomings, freshman year of college… ALL POOF! So inhaling the “magic dust” would not become so intriguing anymore.

Ten years from now, I imagine myself working in a pediatrics office, healing and making little children feel better everyday(: But at the same time, I’ll probably be in my senior year of grad school getting my degree in Pre-Med. I don’t think I will probably change in the future. I’ll stay with the same childish personality I have (although I don’t speak a lot in this class, I’m VERY social outside of school, and when I am around my friends). But it’s possible that I may be a bit more practical? I mean after you get out in the real world, you tend to become more practical and mature.

Anyways, if I receive any of this “magic dust” in the future. I probably won’t inhale it because I want to experience my high school and college years. What it feels like to be a senior and college, what prom is like, what college is all about… isn’t that what high school and college are for?  :D

Best Chilhood Memory – UAE(:

Hey Guys(:

Week 4 Post: Best Childhood Memory

In 2005 or 2006 (something like that) I traveled to the United Arab Emirates or UAE. I never thought that I would be visiting such a beautiful and amazing country. My cousin lives in UAE 2 – 3 hours away from Abu Dhabi so we went to go visit her. I had SO much fun. The best part about it was going to go see the Burj Al Arab. THAT WAS AMAZING! I wish I could have seen the Burj Al Khalifa (world’s tallest building), but it didn’t fully exist then. The construction was still going on. But WOW… Burj Al Arab is BEAUTIFUL, and it has almost everything. Did you know Roger Federer played tennis on one of the tennis courts of that building? And let me tell you that the tennis court is pretty high up. Looking down from inside of the Burj Al Arab, is VERY scary… especially for someone like me that is afraid of heights.  I also got to visit Ferrari World which was pretty fun. THEY HAVE A MALL MADE OUT OF GOLD! That was DEFINITELY pretty. I got to meet a couple of my cousin’s friends, and the people there are very nice. But anyway, UAE was a great experience, and I had a lot of fun! It’s definitely one of my favorite childhood memories(:

This is the Burj Al Arab
